Fuji is our second UMAI Induction Heating (IH) rice cooker for the UK and Europe and unique and special rice cooking functions that are sure to please any rice lover. Our efforts to put IH into a smaller capacity rice cooker that retains it's minimal looks was quite the task. We took leading Japanese rice cooking technologies, learned exactly how they worked, chose their best and most useful features and built them into Fuji so it produces professional, restaurant quality rice – every time!

We don't design our premium rice cookers to just cook rice perfectly, we also design them to look stylish and modern in your kitchen. For Fuji, we chose this contemporary matte white exterior accented by a stylish wood effect control panel. This is complemented by our ice white ‘hidden under’ LED display and advanced Korean Motouch/push button hybrid control panel; not only for reasons of hygiene but to keep fingerprints to a minimum and give an easy clean exterior appearance.

Fuji has a stainless steel inner lid for the more health conscious. It includes our signature SHINSEI handmade ceramic inner bowl that is carefully made over a process that takes several month. SHINSEI has rice measurement level lines are silk printed for ease of reading and durability. Fuji itself is easy to clean with removable parts. We don’t believe a rice cooker can get any more healthy than this?

The Mountain Of Rice Cookers
You name the rice, Fuji can cook it perfectly. Basmati, Hom Mali jasmine rice , brown rice, short grain (sushi) – using it’s UMAI smart brain it can cook these grains not just good but how they should be cooked. By using multiple fine adjusted heating phases that our engineers at Yum Asia have calibrated, Fuji tailors each cooking function to the grain and optimises everything so what you get at the end of the cook cycle are perfect grains cooked how they should be. We eat rice at least twice a week, and after almost 10 years of service our cheap machine died and we were suddenly in the market for a new one.
I wanted a ceramic bowl and a nice design. Those two things automatically mean paying a higher price.
This machine is very nicely made. Its material qualities are very good. The machine itself feels very sturdy. The ceramic bowl is substantial. Operation is very simple and easy to understand.
We’ve cooked long and short grain, basmati and jasmine with totally perfect results every time.

Der Reiskocher kann viel mehr als “nur” Reis kochen. Dennoch nutze ich ihn fast ausschließlich dafür. Und das mit wachsender Begeisterung. Der Reis wird einfach viel besser als im Kochtopf. Lecker, gute Konsistenz. Die Warmhaltefunktion ist ein Segen für Leute wie mich, die es nie schaffen, dass alle Komponenten eines Menüs gleichzeitig gar sind. Die Wassermengenangabe im Topf ist jedoch mE zu wenig. Ich nehme immer eine halb Einheit mehr Wasser als die Anzeige sagt. Sonst ist mir der Reis zu trocken. Aber in der Anleitung wird auch klargestellt, dass das nur ein Richtwert ist und vom Reis und dem eigenen Geschmack abhängt Diese “Yummamy”-Stufe hat für mich keinen Mehrwert gebracht. Der Reis wird einfach länger zubereitet. Die Teile können nicht in die Spüli, sind aber mit einer Bürste und heißem Wasser schnell von Hand gereinigt. Das Design des Gerätes ist angenehm. Es fühlt sich wertig an. Die Bedienung ist kinderleicht. Leider passen die Löffel nicht in das Gerät, wenn man es in den Schrank räumt. Das wäre sehr praktisch gewesen. Immerhin das Kabel kann man abziehen und im Topf lagern. Der Reiskocher ist zwar nicht billig, aber kostet immer noch viel weniger als die aus Japan und macht 1a Reis.

Had this rice cooker for slightly over 2 years.
Good points:
– good capacity for batch cooking, enough for 2 adults most of the time, with the space to do enough rice for a dinner gathering as well
– perfect rice every time when you follow the instructions. Really takes the hard work out of making good rice, no skill necessary, no babysitting it and remembering to change the heat level so it steams etc.
– love that I can set it and forget it until it beeps that it’s done
– looks good on the counter
– great for steaming small amounts in the steamer basket. Very good for steamed eggs.
The rest:
– could never get the slow cook function to work without burning the food I was cooking by halfway through the programme, because the pot had hotspots from the beginning. They weren’t an issue for the rice functions.
– some parts fiddly to clean, especially the silicone seals as water collects in them
– ceramic inner pot requires careful cleaning as it’s obviously breakable, and can’t be immersed in water
– it suddenly died mid-cook 2 months outside the warranty period, which was mildly annoying.
That said, the good points were good enough to make me want another rice cooker, I’ll buy one from Yum Asia as I was happy with their service and the 2 year warranty, just choosing a different model this time (going to give the Panda Mini a go).
