Panda has two different types of capacity. It is a 0.6 litre, 3.5 cup rice cooker or 1.3Â litre multicooker.
Let’s take the first two capacities – 0.6 litres or 3.5 cup. Rice cooker capacities are always referred to in litres or cups. Panda is a 0.6 litres capacity rice cooker and it can therefore cook 3.5 cups of uncooked white rice or 2.5 cups of uncooked brown rice – each cup is 180ml/g. So, if you want to cook 1 cup of white rice, that would be approximately 180g or if you want to cook the full capacity of 3.5 cups, that would be approximately 630g of uncooked rice.
The third capacity of 1.3 litres refers to Panda’s multi-cooking capacity. This means that the inner bowl can hold a maximum of 1.3 litres of liquid.

I bought this to replace my 10+ years old rice cooker. I love rice, and I can easily tell the difference between a good rice cooker and an average one from the cooked rice.
The rice cooker has a compact design, took very little space in the kitchen, and cooks up to 3.5 cups of rice which is about enough for 3 adults, or 2 adults with 2 young children.
I cooked 3 cups of short grain rice to test this rice cooker. It took a little over half hour, and used 0.173 kWh electricity measured using a power plug energy monitor. That’s about £0.04 under the current energy price cap 24.50 pence per kWh.
I’m very happy with the rice it cooked. The texture and moist level of the cooked rice is prefect, and the rice is evenly cooked from the top to the bottom.
The bowl is non-sticking, and it does a great job. I can easily get the last bit of rice off the bowl, thus minimising food waste. It requires minimum amount of effort to clean if cleaned before the starchy residue is dried on the bowl. It’s also a good idea to clean and dry the lid, the gasket and the other parts after each use and leave the lid open to prevent mould. I’m writing this from the experience of my old rice cooker which has a similar design.
In my opinion, the one thing can be improved is the design of the condensation collector. It has a fairly small capacity, and needs to be emptied after each use. It is also well sealed, which means the water can’t evaporate easily from the collector. Comparing to that, my old rice cooker had a larger collector, and it’s open on the top. That means it can hold more water and let them evaporate into the air instead of requiring emptying after each use.
The timer only shows up at 10 minutes before it finishes. I guess it’s because the cooking time depends on many factors, such as the amount of rice and water, the temperature of the water, the room temperature, etc., and it’s very hard to accurately estimate the cooking time at the beginning. They choose to provide an accurate timer that only shows up near the end of cooking over an inaccurate timer that shows up at the beginning (but later jumps unexpectedly).
It’s also worth mentioning that the indicators in the bowl has been updated to white-on-black instead of the engraved black-on-black seen on photos taken by previous buyers. The new version is much easier to read.

I wasn’t sure weather I should get the regular 20-30 cost model, a mid for 50-60 or this & I was thinking on it for a while & decided to go for this. So glad that I did & now wouldn’t want to give it up for the cheaper options.
Yey Panda.

I have brought a few rice cookers, but I’ve always gone for the cheaper ones and have always been disappointed. Decided to spend a bit more and by this one. I have to say, it’s a real pleasure to use. Lovely to look at, easy to use and clean, quality build. The most important thing, of course, is that it cooks rice perfectly every time. I cook a lot of long grain and sushi rice, and it does both beautifully.

I have had this product for quite a while now and it still works great. It cooks rice quickly and is easy to clean up. I have used it with many different kinds of rice, and it seems to work great for everything from sushi rice to basmati.

Very well made unit with a thorough and helpful users manual explaining a lot about the surprisingly interesting art of cooking perfect rice.

Consigliato.
