The Small Things Make The Difference

Sakura's Ninja bowl has a 2mm thick ceramic coating for healthy cooking (BPA and PTFE free). The bowl has durable easy to read silk printed rice measurement lines for correct water measurements. The bowl has stay cool handles for easy carrying and lifting in and out of the cooker. The inner lid is made of high quality stainless steel for the more health conscious. Everything has been thought about – even including adding a wedge to the rice spatula so that when the spatula lays on your worktop the food contact surface of it do not touch the worktop. PREHEATING PHASE

Sakura starts to gently heat the rice and water in the inner bowl to between 50-60°C. This begins the cooking cycle and is key to the release of sugars into the water from the rice grains.

Absorb-Water.png

ABSORB WATER PHASE

The cooking temperature is further increased whilst the microprocessor makes small adjustments to obtain a range of between 50-80°C so the rice can optimally start absorbing the water depending on the function chosen.

Heating-icon.png

HEATING PHASE

The temperature is increased again to between 75-85°C to start the actual cooking process. This varies depending on the function chosen.

Boiling-icon.png

BOILING PHASE

Sakura then rapidly increases the temperature to 100ËšC boiling point to evaporate the majority of the water from the inner bowl and to further cook the rice to soften and optimise texture.

Steam-icon.png

STEAM PHASE – sugar reabsorption

Deep steaming then enables the rice to continue cooking while reabsorbing the sugars from the remaining water back into the rice whilst simultaneously evaporating the remaining water. This part of the cycle makes the rice taste sweeter, more nutritious, have better aroma/texture and completes the final rice grain cooking.

Cool-down-icon.png

COOL DOWN PHASE

Water balancing then occurs using low temperature range cycling to ensure there is no remaining water left and that the rice has the correct moisture content.

Keep-warm-icon2.png

KEEP WARM AND STEAM PHASE

The temperature is then held at an optimal 70-76°C to continue to steam the rice and keep the rice safe from bacteria. This ensures the rice is perfectly cooked, fluffy and delicious and ready for when you need it.

Multi Phased Cooking

Sakura uses advanced fuzzy logic (AI) to ensure rice is cooked perfectly every time. This cooking profile graph shows how the advanced microprocessor adjusts the temperature using the weight, content type, water volume, internal temperatures along with pre-programmed conditions to cook perfect rice time after time.
Sakura uses at least 7 phases of cooking types which includes preheat, absorb water, heating, boiling, steam, cool down and keep warm with steam which are each calculated for time and temperature using Yum Asia's unique cooking profiles.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Yes. There isn’t any problem cooking one or two cups of rice in a bigger capacity rice cooker, we made sure that Sakura can do this successfully – one cup of rice comes out as perfectly as when you cook the full 8 cup capacity of rice.

Sakura has two different types of capacity. It is a 1.5 litre, 8 cup rice cooker or 3.3 litre multicooker.

Let’s take the first two capacities – 1.5 litres or 8 cup. Rice cooker capacities are always referred to in litres or cups. Sakura is a 1.5 litres capacity rice cooker and it can therefore cook 8 cups of uncooked white rice or 6 cups of uncooked brown rice – each cup is 180ml/g. So, if you want to cook 1 cup of white rice, that would be 180g or if you want to cook the full capacity of 8 cups, that would be 1.5kg of uncooked rice.

The third capacity of 3.3 litres refers to Sakura’s multi-cooking capacity. This means that the inner bowl can hold a maximum of 3.3 litres of liquid.

You can learn more about the capacity of our rice cookers in the following pages:

US Capacity Guide

In our years of selling Zojirushi rice cookers, we realised that all of rice cookers on the market in the UK, Europe or the USA only had teflon/similar non-stick material inner bowls.

Based on many customer queries and opinions, we took the decision to supply an inner bowl with a premium and durable 2mm thick ceramic coating. We call this type of bowl – Ninja.

The Ninja bowl is BPA-free and PTFE-free and is hard wearing. The inner bowl also has a special honeycomb structure to help the heat disperse evenly across the bowl’s surface.

The level lines of the bowl are silk printed rather than stamped so they can be hard wearing but also easily read in low light conditions.

Yes! To turn Sakura OFF simply long hold the CANCEL button when a menu function is not selected.

To turn Sakura back on simply press the CANCEL button again.

COOKER NOT STARTING

Firstly check that you are long pressing hold on the START button. This cooker requires you to hold your finger on the START button for at least 3 seconds for it to begin cooking. This is a safety feature to prevent accidental turning on of the cooker when brushing the touch sensitive control panel.

COOKER WILL NOT STOP

In the same way as the START button you need to long press hold on the CANCEL button to stop a cooking cycle.

The small piece of plastic is actually the rice spatula holder. It clips onto the handle of Sakura and then you can insert the spatula into it for safe keeping.

  1. Flor (France)

Beautiful design and cooks perfect rice like Yum Asia said it would. Very positive experience from me. I only used the Tafu thermal mug once so far and my drink was hot for at least 5 hours.

  2. Brooksy (UK)

Good looking cooker, has all the functions I need rather than lots I don’t need. It’s easy to use too – I’m getting more rice for my meals which must be good for my waistline. It has exceeded my expectations so far, the only issue being that the sticker is a tad oversized on the back but it’s not a big deal. Time to get my porridge cooking for later. Thank you Yum Asia.

  3. Gus (UK)

I ordered on Thursday and received my order by DPD the very next day. Even got a time down to the hour as to when it would arrive. The box and contents are very good and of modern design. I really like the cool blue led display and whilst the touch panel buttons take a few minutes to get used to they are actually very nice, practical and easy to use. My third cook test of jasmine rice just finished and the rice came out fluffy, hot and a nice taste (yes rice can have different tastes!) with just the right amount of moisture. A triumph from Yum Asia.

  4. Joyce (France)

Very fast delivery, two days to France. I love the kawaii styling of this rice cooker which reminds me of my amazing trips to Japan. I’ve only had it one day and I’ve already tried brown rice, porridge and now I’m trying the slow cooking. The quality of the rice was very good although I may need to adjust the amount of water I add just very slightly because I like my rice a bit firmer than most people. The functions are not complicated to figure out and I can see that the timer function is going to be used often because I have a family of four to cook for. A great purchase and I’m sure you can not get better value for your money for this quality of rice cooker.

  5. Rory (Scotland)

This one was a no brainer – a tenner extra for the thermal mug couldn’t be passed up. I wasn’t expecting much of the mug tbh (I have a Zojirushi already) but it’s excellent and seems to have the same heat keeping as the Zojirushi. I’m going to use the rice cooker tonight for the first time but it looks brilliant and I love the fact it has a ceramic bowl.

  6. Bren (UK)

I received my Sakura earlier today, I was first surprised on unpacking how nice the box is (lovely, modern stylish colours) and again surprised at how good the Sakura looks in person. The photos on the site look good, but it’s so much better than that when you see it in your kitchen. It’s very modern looking and it made me think – if Darth Vader rode a motorbike, this is what his helmet would look like :). First go at basmati rice was a roaring success and I’m so excited to try the other functions! Thank you for the fast delivery and answering my question on live chat.

  7. Kelly (UK)

YumAsia were FANTASTIC! They responded to every one of my (and there were many!) emails, helped me choose, and delivery was fast!

  8. Martin (UK)

I just finished eating my first batch with Sakura. I was asked by Yum Asia to do a comparison with my Zojirushi and they both cook rice to the same high standard. I think Sakura is great value for money!

  9. Louis Dugrain
