The Small Things Make The Difference

Sakura's Ninja bowl has a 2mm thick ceramic coating for healthy cooking (BPA and PTFE free). The bowl has durable easy to read silk printed rice measurement lines for correct water measurements. The bowl has stay cool handles for easy carrying and lifting in and out of the cooker. The inner lid is made of high quality stainless steel for the more health conscious. Everything has been thought about – even including adding a wedge to the rice spatula so that when the spatula lays on your worktop the food contact surface of it do not touch the worktop. PREHEATING PHASE

Sakura starts to gently heat the rice and water in the inner bowl to between 50-60°C. This begins the cooking cycle and is key to the release of sugars into the water from the rice grains.

Absorb-Water.png

ABSORB WATER PHASE

The cooking temperature is further increased whilst the microprocessor makes small adjustments to obtain a range of between 50-80°C so the rice can optimally start absorbing the water depending on the function chosen.

Heating-icon.png

HEATING PHASE

The temperature is increased again to between 75-85°C to start the actual cooking process. This varies depending on the function chosen.

Boiling-icon.png

BOILING PHASE

Sakura then rapidly increases the temperature to 100˚C boiling point to evaporate the majority of the water from the inner bowl and to further cook the rice to soften and optimise texture.

Steam-icon.png

STEAM PHASE – sugar reabsorption

Deep steaming then enables the rice to continue cooking while reabsorbing the sugars from the remaining water back into the rice whilst simultaneously evaporating the remaining water. This part of the cycle makes the rice taste sweeter, more nutritious, have better aroma/texture and completes the final rice grain cooking.

Cool-down-icon.png

COOL DOWN PHASE

Water balancing then occurs using low temperature range cycling to ensure there is no remaining water left and that the rice has the correct moisture content.

Keep-warm-icon2.png

KEEP WARM AND STEAM PHASE

The temperature is then held at an optimal 70-76°C to continue to steam the rice and keep the rice safe from bacteria. This ensures the rice is perfectly cooked, fluffy and delicious and ready for when you need it.

Multi Phased Cooking

Sakura uses advanced fuzzy logic (AI) to ensure rice is cooked perfectly every time. This cooking profile graph shows how the advanced microprocessor adjusts the temperature using the weight, content type, water volume, internal temperatures along with pre-programmed conditions to cook perfect rice time after time.
Sakura uses at least 7 phases of cooking types which includes preheat, absorb water, heating, boiling, steam, cool down and keep warm with steam which are each calculated for time and temperature using Yum Asia's unique cooking profiles.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Yes. There isn’t any problem cooking one or two cups of rice in a bigger capacity rice cooker, we made sure that Sakura can do this successfully – one cup of rice comes out as perfectly as when you cook the full 8 cup capacity of rice.

Sakura has two different types of capacity. It is a 1.5 litre, 8 cup rice cooker or 3.3 litre multicooker.

Let’s take the first two capacities – 1.5 litres or 8 cup. Rice cooker capacities are always referred to in litres or cups. Sakura is a 1.5 litres capacity rice cooker and it can therefore cook 8 cups of uncooked white rice or 6 cups of uncooked brown rice – each cup is 180ml/g. So, if you want to cook 1 cup of white rice, that would be 180g or if you want to cook the full capacity of 8 cups, that would be 1.5kg of uncooked rice.

The third capacity of 3.3 litres refers to Sakura’s multi-cooking capacity. This means that the inner bowl can hold a maximum of 3.3 litres of liquid.

You can learn more about the capacity of our rice cookers in the following pages:

US Capacity Guide

In our years of selling Zojirushi rice cookers, we realised that all of rice cookers on the market in the UK, Europe or the USA only had teflon/similar non-stick material inner bowls.

Based on many customer queries and opinions, we took the decision to supply an inner bowl with a premium and durable 2mm thick ceramic coating. We call this type of bowl – Ninja.

The Ninja bowl is BPA-free and PTFE-free and is hard wearing. The inner bowl also has a special honeycomb structure to help the heat disperse evenly across the bowl’s surface.

The level lines of the bowl are silk printed rather than stamped so they can be hard wearing but also easily read in low light conditions.

Yes! To turn Sakura OFF simply long hold the CANCEL button when a menu function is not selected.

To turn Sakura back on simply press the CANCEL button again.

COOKER NOT STARTING

Firstly check that you are long pressing hold on the START button. This cooker requires you to hold your finger on the START button for at least 3 seconds for it to begin cooking. This is a safety feature to prevent accidental turning on of the cooker when brushing the touch sensitive control panel.

COOKER WILL NOT STOP

In the same way as the START button you need to long press hold on the CANCEL button to stop a cooking cycle.

The small piece of plastic is actually the rice spatula holder. It clips onto the handle of Sakura and then you can insert the spatula into it for safe keeping.

  1. Toby (UK)

I’ve gone through a lot of cheap rice cookers over the years and most don’t do a very good job or break very quickly or the bowl begins to deteriorate after just a few uses. This cooker is easy to use with just one click of the button. No standing over it to make sure it doesn’t boil over. No mess. No adjusting heat levels. No convoluted method to make a simple bowl of rice. You may ask, is it any different to a £30 rice cooker and my answer would be 100% yes and worth EVERY penny spent.

  2. Tamara (UK)

I always thought I could make good rice using a series of cooking steps such as boiling then steaming rice.Like most people, I even tried the cheap glass lid types of rice cookers but found that they were messy and often over boiled the rice. I tried this rice cooker and I completely see why so many people use these computerized rice cookers over the more traditional stove or microwave methods of cooking rice. It’s so much easier. time saving and the rice tastes soooooo good! I have a friend who doesn’t see the point of a kettle but he doesn’t drink hot drinks and so doesn’t see the value in kettles which is completely understandable. My point being is that if you eat rice more than twice a week then I consider this a very good investment. It saves messing around and cooks better rice.

  3. Joe Punt (UK)

The cooker does a really excellent job of making restaurant quality rice with absolutely zero fuss or mess. I love the way it indicates cooking progress on the very hitech display. I like how I can set up the timer to precook my rice ready for when i get back from shopping. I finally get why these more high end rice cookers are a bit more expensive but worth it. The amount of money it saves me on chinese or thai food takeaways is worth it alone! 5 star rating which is definitely well deserved.

  4. Paula (Spain)

Ceramic bowl is good for healthy. Excellent rice quality. Fantastic price with the tafu mug. Im happy with this very much.

  5. Loucas (UK)

I got this item very fast in just two days from ordering. DPD delivered it and gave me an hour slot as to when it would arrive. This appliance does it’s job brilliantly. The rice made in it is tasty, fluffy and exactly what I wanted. The keep warm feature is extremely useful and keeps the rice at the perfect termperature. I have never really used a slow cooker before but I tried making chilli and the results were surprisingly good! The meat was tenderised more than my stove version and the flavours were very rich and delicious. I’m a convert – Slower cooking definitely makes a difference. Now I have a couple more functions that I want to try but going back to my first point – this makes incredible tasting rice and that is what I principally bought this for.

  6. Lena (Germany)

A very good bargain for both items. Love my purchase. I highly recommend and the sakura is very classy in my kitchen.

  7. Maria S (Finland)

The ordering process was easy with the website. The rice cooker was delivered in about 5 days. I was on the waiting list for sakura and was one of the first to use it. I’ve had it for over two months now and use it twice a day. It really does it’s job extremely well. I did have an issue at the start with not realising that I needed to hold the start button down for more than 2 seconds to get it to start but this is in the manual and is my fault for not noticing this. Honestly I would have paid a lot more for it as I value good tasting rice so much. I’m using the slow cook function as well on this which saves me having to pay extra money for a separate slow cooker machine. Once again, I love this sakura cooker and I think it is absolutely amazing. A+++++++

  8. Helen (Ireland)

I mainly bought this because of the ceramic bowl, I really don’t like non-stick cookware and I haven’t been able to find a rice cooker without one. The rice cooker itself is amazing – short grain or basmati both white and brown rice is cooked perfectly – just enough bite to it and so easy. I have used the timer several times and the porridge in the morning is simply lovely. Stylish and easy to clean I am so excited to try other things. I tried making yoghurt following the instructions in the manual and it was simply gorgeous. I can see how much money this is going to save me 🙂

  9. Heinz (Germany)

What a value deal this is. I didn’t expect too much because of the price, but when my delivery arrived fast (3 days after ordering), I was shocked at how classy the box was for Sakura. I got more of a surprise when I took Sakura out – wowwowwow, it was so shiny and modern. I set it to work straight away and I am in heaven – the rice is so fluffy and tender, the steam basket is great – I can make whole meals and I have some soup inside now cooking and I am excited to try other settings. It’s a brilliant rice cooker and I can see it is so well made and will last. I bought the deal and my wife uses the tafu thermal and she loves it, very good to keep her coffee hot on the way to work. All around excellent 5*

  10. Ebba (Sweden)

I found your website very easy to use and I liked that you had so much information for me to read and make a decision. I finally decided on Sakura for several reasons – I like the bowl with the ceramic coating and I have a small kitchen and wanted a machine that could be used for rice and other things. I am not disappointed. I made Kalops this weekend and it was delicious, the beef was melting and soft and my family were so happy with the taste. I recommend this 100%
