Love it! Perfect Rice. I also often cook quinoa, millet, amaranth, buckwheet, barley and brown whole rice. Works great but I have to search for recipes in the internet. I am only missing instructions how much water I have to add using different grains! Please add a tabel for that. In my country we eat a lot of different grains.
I take the Hotaru with me when I go camping and use it aswell for beaking bread, baking typical german cheesecake or preparing chili. I prefer cooking with electricity instead of gas in my van.
Since the Hotaru is a brand new item in my kitchen I still have to learn. It is a bit different to my big rice cooker. I make soyyoghurt myself at home and I will try it in the Hotaru.

Excellent little rice cooker that’s big enough for my family of 4. We use it every da. My husband is Japanese and said that the koshihikari short grain rice helps produces some of the best sushi he has tasted. We also slow cooked a beef stew in it whcih was exquisite. I highly recommend getting this superb and essential kitchen appliance for anyone who eats rice at least once a week.

I had been wanting a Yum Asia rice cooker for a long time. My parents had been telling me about their Panda rice cooker and how good it was and thar, because I eat so much rice I should treat myself. So that’s exactly what I did and have now been the proud owner of a hotaru for 3 weeks now. I’m loving every minute of it and think its perfect for my needs. I could have went for a more expensive model if I’m honest but they seemed to have a lot less features and for what? I don’t regret my purchase one bit whilst Im now happily telling anyone I can to just get one of these beauties!

We had never heard of this brand but after reading some excellent posts on reddit about Yum Asia we decided to try hotaru their latest model. Given that we could never cook really good rice in a saucepan a device that would do the job with one press of a button sounded miraculous and hard to believe. We put in our white rice, filled up the water to the correct bowl level line and pressed start for the white rice option. The cooker made a slight whirring sound of the fan and didn’t get even warm to the touch. We thought it wasn’t working in fact, but it was. After 37 minutes we opened the lid to white, fluffy perfectly cooked rice the likes of which we could never achieve in a pan. It really is miraculous and we are converted. Now time to see what else this beautiful looking device can cook. Hooray! finally we can have good rice.

Simply perfect. I can’t find fault with this rice cooker. I have the chalk white version which is nice and slick. It’s an intriguing thing which can make such perfect rice. I don’t know how it does it but it’s a marvel. I wish I had got one sooner but it was teased for so long I’m just glad it’s finally here and worth the money.

Excellent at cooking rice. Does a lot more too. A really nice attractive design which is already the talk of our friends. Just as a disclaimer – we have been using the panda rice cooker with great success for 4 years now. It worked so well we upgraded as this brand can be trusted to make rresilient and well designed products. A+++++++

We had been waiting for this for months to be released so our expectations were high. We were hoping for a cooker that was something special. Hotaru is a complete marvel! Perfect short grain rice for our sushi, beautiful yumami white rice for our jasmine, tasty brown rice for when we want to eat more healthy, made a wondefful soup and stew. The only thing we haven’t cooked yet is a cheesecake but we already know it will be brilliant. You really knocked this one out of the park Yum Asia.

This is my second rice cooker from Yum Asia after owning another small cooker, Tsuki. So far, I have mainly used GABA Brown program, but already I am blown away by the Hotaru rice cooker. I don’t think I have ever tasted brown rice so fluffy. I like the utilitarian design and the added steel basket for steaming. The steaming function makes it very easy to steam in a fire-and-forget manner. The absurd amount of different programs will give me room to experiment and try out cooking more than just rice and porridge.
The only minor gripe I have is that the fan and induction coil(?) are surprisingly loud compared to Tsuki, which is virtually silent during cooking process.

We are please that you are blown away by Hotaru! It’s a fabulous cooker. As with all IH rice cookers there is a little more noise than a conventional heating method as the magnetic indcution system has to be kept within tolerable temperatue limits so some fan cooling is needed. Happy Cooking!

My first purchase from yumasia and I’m blown away by how good this rice cookers is. Not only is it lovely to look at (I can’t stop stroking it’s smooth exterior!), it coos rice which atstes better than what I eat in my favourite Asian restaurant. The slow cook works well and the yoghurt turned out really good too although I did tweak things a little thanks to the very helpful greedy panda blog which accompanies the yum asia products very well. Utterly brilliant!

Pretty and amazing rice cooker which has exceeded our expectations. It looks neat, compact and yet it cooks rice beautfiully with precision and care. Quite simply – we have never in our lives tasted rice this good. The Yumami function in pariticular enhances the flavour as expected and is incredible. It has every menu item one would need and more. Stainless steel materials where it matters with a heavy duty bowl. A display which is easy to read (we got the white one) and buttons that actually make sense. it counts fully down and is literally set it and press start. Hands down the best rice cooker we have ever had and we are now converted to Yum Asia for life!
