After weeks of looking, I found this rice cooker and it has the setting for Tahdig crust rice – I was over the moon! It works brilliant – perfect Tahdig and the cooker is just the right size for my wife and I, not too big and we love to use it to cook steelcut oat porridge in the morning. It’s perfect as well. I used Yum Asia’s recipe included in the manual, I tweaked it a tiny bit and OMG it is gorgeous!

I’m a self confessed rice addict and I’m very choosey about my rice having to be the right amount of moist to fluffiness. The Sakura cooker does a wonderful job and in a good cooking time and with the preset timer it’s ideal for my busy daily schedule. The Keep warm feature is outstanding! I’ve kept it on Keep warm for 12 hours and the contents of the cooker are still piping hot and ready to eat. The ceramic bowl is a MASSIVE advantage with this device. I have high standards but this reaches and exceeds them. Well done

Just a quick note to say merci Yum Asia. I love it. Although the cooker comes with a UK 3 plug I could easily use an adapter or generic power cord (as the Sakura cord can be unplugged and replaced 🙂 The rice cooker works perfectly in my home and is giving me yummy meals time after time.

When I first opened the box I was a little bit shocked as the product was much larger than I had anticipated but bare in mind that this is my first rice cooker and I had nothing to compare it to. I have since gotten used to it and it hasn’t bothered me at all anymore, I’m actually glad there’s some extra room to work the rice.
The rice has come out Asian restaurant-perfect every time regardless of used type. Actually, it has made me drop pasta pretty much entirely from my diet in favor of rice, that’s how good it is.
I wanted to give the cooker 5 stars but there are couple of minor flaws. For example when opening the lid you have to be careful as steam shoots right up to your hand unless you keep it in a somewhat weird position (for me at least). Also oatmeal prepared with Sakura isn’t as good as I’d like it to be.

The most important thing for me is that this rice cooker has an excellent ceramic cooking bowl. I’m a bit of a health conscious person with things like Teflon and chemicals so the Sakura bowl really sold it to me. Be reassured that the ceramic bowl is of a very high quality too. it is not flimsy or poor design. I’m now happily making rice and happy in my mind that it is being cooked in a healthy, safe way.

I have lost count of the number of times I have bought things for my kitchen that end up in a cupboard never being used. This is not one of those purchases. The Sakura is now probably the most useful and versatile gadget in my kitchen and I use it at least once a day. I’ve used it to cook chickens on slow cook through to exquisite rice pudding and authentic asian tasting jasmine and basmati rice grains. It’s very easy to use with one press on the touch display. I did a cheesecake today and OMG it is out of this world and pushed me over the edge to write this review Simply put, a brilliant cooker.

If you like to eat rice then buy this cooker. It’s as easy as selecting the type of rice grain you want to cook and then clicking the button. No having to watch over it on the stove or have a mess on your counter top. This is a marvel of engineering and the ceramic bowl is nothing short of amazing. Nothing sticks to it. Cleaning it is a dream and I expect it will last a long long time. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could.

There are good reasons why these premium rice cookers are more expensive than the glass lid Tefal type of rice cookers. These premium cookers produce better tasting rice at the touch of a button. The fuzzy logic microcomputer does it’s job marvellously. Like my Zojirushi before I can tell that the quality and build of this cooker is designed to be used 24/7 and take a hammering. It’s not bulky, it’s very attractive in design, it’s easy to clean, has a great timer feature so you can have your warm delicate fluffy rice ready for when you want it to be ready. The only slight downside is that a cook of white rice can take round 40 minutes – quicker than Zojirushi models but not really quick but it is certainly worth the wait. My wife and I love this cooker and it is money very well spent.

I ordered on Monday and the item arrived on Friday. I’m getting on with it very nicely. I struggled a little to understand the English manual but the use of the Sakura is pretty straight forward. If you are looking for a rice cooker then you should consider this because for it is a premium cooker at an affordable price. The mug is also exceptional. Thanks Yum asia and your help on the chat and with ordering.

Bought as a gift for a friend. She loves it and I was actually shocked at how good value this was. She is an asian food addict and already invited me around to dinner as she wanted to show off how different the rice tastes from Sakura and she wasn;t wrong. I will now be getting myself a Sakura, it’s that good.
